Skiing in Sölden
Welcome to skiers paradise
Ski metropolis or skiing paradise – that is how Sölden is often described. The word ski resort is just not good enough to describe Sölden’s slopes. The town in the Tyrolean Ötztal is known as the “Heartbeat of the Alps”, as experiences to get the heart racing are guaranteed during a holiday in Sölden.
1 Ski resort
2 glaciers, 3 three-thousand-metre-peaks
From the Hotel Edelweiss you are only a couple of steps away from the slopes and the extensive skiing area of Sölden. 144 kilometres of slopes are available to all winter sports enthusiasts. 31 modern lifts and gondolas ensure even more enjoyment during the ski day. Speaking of enjoyment: 33 ski huts next to the slopes inviting you to take a break and enjoy. From traditional Tyrolean cuisine to Haute Cuisine, it’s all here. On the many sun terraces in the ski area, Kaspressknödel, Kaiserschmarrn & Co. taste even better than normal. Our tip: The sunny terrace of the Sonnblick mountain restaurant directly opposite the Hotel Edelweiss at the middle station of the Rotkoglbahn gondola.
Double the amount of skiing pleasure is promised by the two glaciers located in the Sölden ski area. The Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers are connected to each other as well as to the rest of the ski area and offer fun on the slopes up to 3340 metres in altitude. By the way: The ski season on the glacier lasts from September to May, over half a year. But that’s not enough extremes. Sölden is the only ski area in Austria with three-thousand-metre peaks accessible by lift. If you want to visit all three, choose the BIG3 rally, which takes you through the entire ski area.
