with the eternal ice

Quite often the ski-bug bites us in autumn. Then don’t wait, get the skis out of the cellar and of you go to Sölden. The ski season on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers starts in September. The 34,5 kilometres of slopes stretch from an altitude of 2675 m up to 3250 m – and is therefore guaranteed snow. Both glaciers are joined by a ski tunnel, this allows more convenience and skiing fun. And in spring when the snow in the valley is long gone, the Sölden glaciers still offer the best conditions to make some turns.

Söldens BIG3

When the rest of the ski resort of Sölden is just awakening from its summer sleep in mid-November, it’s time for the BIG3 rally. Because Sölden is the only ski resort in Austria that has three three-thousand-metre peaks accessible by lift. The BIG3 rally connects all three points above 3000 m on a unique tour through the entire ski area.

The starting point is the Giggijoch, in the immediate vicinity of the Skihotel Edelweiss. From here you go to the Rettenbach glacier and up to the Schwarze Schneide (3340 m). The ski lift takes you to the Tiefenbach glacier and therefore directly to the second of the BIG3 – the panoramic rock footbridge at Tiefenbachkogl at 3250 m. If you still haven’t had enough of the mountain air, then take the Gaislachkogl cable car up to the third of the BIG3 – the Gaislachkogl at an altitude of 3058 m.
